In 1989, Taylor Dayne released her “Can’t fight fate” album. Again, a Taylor Dayne album went double platinum in the United States. This time, she had an album that also went double platinum internationally as it went double platinum in Australia. In Canada, the album went gold.

Hits from the “Can’t fight fate” album included the #1 U.S. Billboard hit “Love will lead you there.” Again, Taylor Dayne showed that she could make beautiful love ballad music. This song touched many hearts and also was the #1 song on the Adult Contemporary Charts. The song also made it’s way to #2 in Canada. “With Every Beat of my Heart” was another big hit for Taylor Dayne. It went to #5 on the U.S. Billboard, #8 on the U.S. Dance Charts and #22 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. It also went to #5 in Canada.

Other hits from the “Can’t fight fate” album were “I’ll be your shelter” which went #4 on the U.S. Billboards and #15 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. It also went to #4 in Australia and made its way all the way to #1 in Canada. “Heart of stone” went to #12 on the U.S. Charts and #8 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. It made it to #4 in Canada.

The next album by Taylor Dayne was “Soul Dancing” in 1993. It went Gold in the United States, Australia and Canada. The biggest hit from this album was “Can’t get enough of your love.” This was a remake of the classic Barry White song. It hit #20 on the U.S. Charts but had a great dance vibe beat to it that sent it to #2 on the U.S. Dance Charts. It also made it to #15 on the Adult Contemporary Charts. It went to #2 in Australia, #8 in Canada and #9 in the Netherlands. “I’ll wait” hit #2 on the U.S. Dance Charts and “Send me a lover” hit #50 on the U.S. Billboards.

Throughout the following years, other albums were later released but didn’t have the same success of her prime. Taylor Dayne did have other singles that charted though. In 1995, “Say a prayer” hit #7 on the U.S. Dance Charts. In 1998, “Whatever you want” hit #6 on the U.S. Dance Charts. That same year, “Naked without you” made it to #3 on the U.S. Dance Charts.

Even though she was way out of her prime, and with mainstream music changing, Taylor Dayne continued to make catchy dance music. In 2000, “Planet love” became the #1 song on the U.S. Dance Charts. In 2002, “How many” hit #6 on the U.S. Dance Charts. In 2007, “I’m not featuring you” made it to #2 on the U.S. Dance Charts while “Beautiful” hit #1 on the U.S. Dance Charts. In 2011, “Floor on fire” hit #7 on the U.S. Dance Charts.

Upon graduating from high school, Taylor Dayne began singing professionally. During her college years, she sung with small bands. After graduating college, she started singing solo. She went under the name Les Lee (a play from her real first name Leslie.) Under an independent label called Mega Bolt, she recorded two dance singles called “I’m the one you want” and “Tell me can you love me.” These songs had mild success, but were good enough to be noticed. Arista Records found an interest in her, signed her and rebranded her as Taylor Dayne.
