Noel

Noel is a freestyle artist that enjoyed success in the late 1980s. He is mostly known for his 1987 smash hit “Silent morning.” He was part of Latin Hip Hop when the music genre was at its peak. Even though most known for “Silent morning,” Noel had many other dance club hits that fans absolutely loved.

Noel released the single “Silent Morning” in 1987, and it instantly became a hit. It would go on to #47 on the U.S. Top 100 chart, #7 on the U.S. Dance Chart and #6 on at U.S. Dance Clubs. Noel’s “Silent Morning” is often regarded by most as an all-time favorite freestyle song. The following year, Noel’s follow up single was “Like a child” which peaked at #67 on the U.S Billboard Chart. It also hit #6 on the U.S. Dance Chart and made its way to #1 at the U.S. Dance Clubs.

A full album titled “Noel” would be recorded in 1988. The album contained “Silent morning” as well as “Like a child.” Another hit would could from the album called “Out of time.” This song did not make the U.S. Billboard chart, but it did make it to #9 on the U.S. Dance Chart and would make its way to be the #1 song at the U.S. Dance clubs. The song “Change” was also released as a single but did not have as much success. Overall, the album made it to #126 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Album Chart.

In 1990, Noel would be the lead singer in Tony Moran’s “Concept of one” project. The song “Question” made it to #24 on the U.S. Dance Club Chart. A new album would be released in 1993 titled “Hearts on fire.” The album came with a different sound from Noel’s previous album. It may have been due to the change of sound in mainstream music and the classic freestyle sound fading. This album had more of a pop-rock sound. One of the songs on the album was a cover of the 1958 Ritchie Valens hit “Donna”

Noel would release a couple of songs after the turn of the century. “Will I find true love” was released in 2001 and “I feel alive” in 2007. Both songs were up tempo dance songs. “Will I find true love” had a lot of late 1980s freestyle influence sound to it.

How did Noel begin his career?

It seems that music found Noel. One day, while at a park in the Bronx with his friends, a talent scout approached him and his friends and told them that he is looking for a male vocalist. Noel jumped on a park bench and started singing a Barry Manilow song. The talent scout liked what he heard and told Noel to meet him the next day at a recording studio.

From there, things would go good for Noel as “Silent morning” would be recorded. First played at a local club, the dance club youth loved it and would often request it. The song would of course eventually hit mainstream radio and become Noel’s biggest and most popular song of his career.
