From the 1991 album titled “Together forever,” Lisette Melendez would have the biggest hit of her career and a song that is considered a freestyle classic “Together forever.” The track reached #35 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 and #31 on the Hot Dance Music / Club Play Chart. Two other songs were hits from the album. “A day in my life (without you)” peaked at #49 on the Billboard Top 100 and #30 on the Hot Dance Music / Club Play Chart. “Never say never” did not make the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Chart, but it did peak at #45 on the Hot Dance Music / Club Play.

Lisette’s next album was in 1994 titled “True to life.” The album was moderately successful, but did not get the attention her first album had. The biggest hit from this album was “Goody Goody” which peaked at #53 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 and #44 on the U.S. Hot Dance Music / Club Play Chart. The album, especially the track “Goodie Goody” was very popular in Japan.

Her third and fourth albums were titled “Imagination” and “Un poco de mi.” From the “Imagination” album her most successful song was “Time passes by,” though this album as a whole was the least successful of her albums. The Spanish album contained Salsa music and the hit “Algo de mi” charted at #8 on the Latin Tropical / Salsa Airplay Chart while hitting #23 on the Hot Latin Chart.

In 2000, a “Greatest hits” album was released. During 2004, Lisette Melendez would make her live performances with “Angel” of the “Original Cover Girls” and “Lil Suzy.” The three freestyle superstars would call themselves “S.A.L.” which were the first letter of each of their names. They would each perform their individual hit songs while the other two did backup vocals. If an individual saw S.A.L. perform they really should feel privileged and honored as it was a great show.

In 2005, Lisette Melendez and fellow freestyle superstar Cynthia got together and formed LisCyn. This came from the first three letters of Lisette’s name and the first three letters of Cynthia’s name. Together, they recorded a track called “I can’t change your mind.” In 2018, Lisette Melendez recorded and released a song called “Rise.” The song centered around abused women.

How did Lisette Melendez begin her career?

Due to not knowing anybody in the music industry, Lisette Melendez almost gave up on a music career. She then started going to clubs hoping to meet people which she did. Eventually she ended up meeting record producer Carlos Berrios who helped get her career going. In 1988, as she was hitting the music scene, Lisette Melendez got her break when she began singing background vocals for a song that was produced by record producer Carlos Berrios. Also in 1988, Lisette Melendez recorded “Make noise” and in 1990 she recorded “If you truly love me.”

Soon thereafter, Berrios, who had already worked with other freestyle artists in the past such as Sweet Sensation ended up having Lisette Melendez record the song “Together Forever.” He would then go on to produce her full album which was titled “Together forever.”
