Lil Suzy is a freestyle artist that enjoyed most of her success in the early 1990s. Signing a recording contract at the age of 8, she is the youngest freestyle singer to succeed in the music industry. She would enjoy instant fame as a tween and go on to enjoy a very successful singing career. She is most noted for her mega hit “Take me in your arms.”

In 1988, at the age of 8, Lil Suzy’s song “Randy” was released. The song was well welcomed and anybody with a good hearing sense knew that they had a future freestyle artist in the making. In 1991, under High Power Records and distribution done by Warlock Records, Lil Suzy would record her first album titled “Love can’t wait.” The album produced many terrific freestyle tracks such as “Love can’t wait” and “Falling in love,” but Lil Suzy’s major hit was “Take me in your arms.”

At the time, little did anybody know that “Take me in your arms” would eventually become a freestyle classic. The song charted at #67 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Chart and became a favorite dance song in both the United States and Canada. At the age of 12, Lil Suzy was a star with her music being played nationwide. That same year, she was named Billboard Magazine’s best new dance artist.

A few years later, Lil Suzy would release her second album titled “Back to dance.” It featured the song “Turn the beat around,” which was a cover of the 1976 disco hit by Vicki Sue Robinson. The album as a whole did not do as well as hoped for. This may have inspired Lil Suzy to start her own record label, which she did, with the help of her parents and called it Empress Records. At the age of 15, this may have made her the youngest person to ever be president of a record label.

In 1995, Lil Suzy released her third album titled “Life goes on” under her own new label. She would have one of the biggest hits of her career with the track “Promise me” which peaked at #62 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Chart. Other singles that fans took a liking to included “Now and forever,” ” When I fall in love” and “Just can’t get over you.”

In 1997 another album would be recorded titled “Paradise.” There were a couple of charting songs from this album. “Can’t get you out of my mind” peaked at #79 on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 Chart. “I still love you” also charted on the U.S. Billboard Top 100 making it to #94. “Memories” was another song that became a popular hit.

In 1999, a compilation album titled “The megamix” would be released. In 2002, another compilation album titled “The greatest hits” was released. Lil Suzy’s journey through the freestyle era of music has certainly put her name as one of the greatest freestyle singers of all time.

The talent of Lil Suzy was noticed at a very young age. Around 1984, when Lil Suzy was only around 5 years old, she would sing covers of famous songs at Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn. An agent spotted her and began giving her more exposure by booking her to perform at many New York nightspots. Lil Suzy was only 8 years old when she was signed to Fever Records in 1987. In 1988, Lil Suzy would record her first song called “Randy.” She would then sometimes perform live venues with other freestyle artists such as The Cover Girls, Cynthia and Judy Torres. In 1991, being a bit older, Lil Suzy recorded her first album and the rest is history.
