Janet Jackson made “Look out weekend here I come?” It may come as a surprise to many freestyle music fans, but the iconic Janet Jackson once recorded a remake of Debbie Deb’s freestyle classic “Look out weekend here I come” song. If you never heard of it, there may be more than a few reasons.

When did Janet Jackson record “Look out weekend here I come?”

In 2006, Janet Jackson did a recording of Debbie Deb’s monster hit “Look out weekend here I come.” Around this time, Janet was putting together the album “20 Y.O.” Although considered, “Look out weekend here I come” did not make the final cut for the album. Rumor had it that the song was going to be used as a promotional tool for her album. Then it was said that they were going to release it as a single. Eventually, the song became available as a free download.

What did freestyle music fans think of Janet Jackson’s remake?

Even though most people were not aware of this song, freestyle music fans that knew about it did not think much of Janet Jackson’s version of “Look out weekend here I come.” That’s not to say that nobody liked it, but when compared to the Debbie Deb version that most fans have come to love and adore, most people were not feeling it.

Some songs are just made for certain people. The singing abilities of Janet Jackson and Debbie Deb cannot be compared. Everyone knows Janet Jackson is the better singer. Debbie Deb never had any vocal training, and Janet probably had the best vocal training imaginable.

Some in the music industry have spoken about how Debbie Deb is so off key in “Look out weekend” as well as “When I hear music.” But, guess what? Nobody cared. Debbie Deb’s voice goes perfectly with those songs, whether off key or not.

When all is said and done, Janet Jackson’s version was alright. It was nothing special though. Was Janet’s version as good as Debbie Debs. No it was not. In most music fans opinions, Debbie Deb’s version will be difficult to top.

Why didn’t Janet Jackson’s version become a hit?

Everybody in the world knows that Janet Jackson is one of the most iconic pop stars in the music industry. Coming from one of the all time greatest musical families in the world, Janet has gained a fan base most could only dream about. With that said, and if she is so great, why didn’t her version of “Look out weekend here I come” become a hit?

First things first, the song was not put on her “20 Y.O.” album. Why? Who knows. Then they didn’t release it as a single. Seems like the song was not given much of a chance. If given a chance, the song could have possibly become a hit. This is not to say that it would have ever been bigger than Debbie Deb’s version, but it could have made some noise in the music industry.
