Company B

Company B is a three girl trio that is known for their freestyle dance music in the mid and late 1980s. They are one of many all female trio groups during the freestyle music era. The original members of Company B were Charlotte McKinnon, Lori L. (Ledesma) and Susan Gonzalez Johnson.

Throughout the years, there were many line up changes for Company B. Charlotte McKinnon was the first one to leave the group as she left before the first album was released. She was replaced with Lezlee Livrano (who took the place as the lead singer.) Susan Gonzalez would then leave the group and be replaced with Sheena B. Before the release of Company B’s second album, Sheena B and Lezlee Livrano would both eventually leave the group and be replaced with Donna Huntley and Julie Marie.

Top songs from Company B

In 1987, Company B released their self titled album simply called “Company B.” From this album would come one of the greatest freestyle songs of all time. “Fascinated” is a song that every freestyle music fan knows. Actually, no matter what genre of music one was into, anybody around during the mid to late 1980s would know the catchy smooth sound of “Fascinated” as it spent eight weeks in 1987 on the U.S. Billboard top 40 while peaking at #21. “Fascinated” did make its way to #1 on the U.S. Dance Chart and spent four weeks there.

From the “Company B” album would come other dance hits such as “Full circle” (#5 on the U.S. Dance Chart,) “Perfect lover” (#12 on the U.S. Dance Chart) and “Signed in your book of love” (#9 on the U.S. Dance Chart.) Even though these songs were hits at the dance clubs, they did not get much radio play and for that reason never had a chance to chart on the U.S. billboard.

In 1989, Company B would release their second album titled “Gotta Dance.” The line up here would be Lori L. (Ledesma,) Donna Huntley and Julie Marie. No longer were there any white wigs, and it seemed that the group was aiming for a new identity. Top songs from this album would be “Gotta dance,” “You stole my heart” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” Unfortunately, no songs charted, and the album did not have anything close to the success as the previous album.
